Holy Awe

Recently I had the incredible privilege to meet with an amazing group of people who love God deeply and who are actively in the process of getting closer to Him and becoming more like Him. They were just finishing the Forming course, which they loved, and they spoke with passion about how wonderful this journey toward God truly is.

When I returned home, I found it hard to name the feeling that overwhemed me. It felt more serious than Joy, more solid than Hope, and more alive than Satisfaction. The only phrase that seemed to capture it for me was Holy Awe.

I had witnessed God at work, visibly, in the lives of an entire group of people who were caring, seeking, and learning at a level that I have rarely seen. I was awestruck. And I am personally deeply encouraged as I hold onto that image of God at work. I think this may have been Paul's experience when he penned these words:

"I thank my God in all my rememrance of you, always offering prayer with joy in my every prayer for you all, in view of your participation in the gospel." (Phil.1:3-5).

I love watching God do what He does!
