To Love and Be Loved
Sometimes when we begin discovering how relational God truly is and how much He loves us, our neediness becomes incredibly evident, and we thirst for even more and more of God’s love for us. And that’s great!
But we do not want to neglect the other side. Because not only do we need to experience God’s love, we also need to consciously and actively love and adore Him. That changes us, too!
Think about how wonderful it is in earthly relationships when your love interest returns your affections! The two of you create something that is greater than the sum of the parts, and both of you are changed in the process. So too in our relationship with God.
As needy as we are to be loved, one of our greatest needs is to love! That is why the greatest commandment is, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your mind, all your soul, and all your might.”
Let that sink in for a while!
